Open Intro

Open Intro is a project to produce an open source introductory statistics book and was co-founded with Chris Barr of Harvard Biostatistics. All the benefits of open source go hand-in-hand with this book: it will be free to modify, copy, etc. The only restriction is that any modified versions must be released under the same conditions as the original. As of November 1st, 2009, we have released one chapter and have several more in production. We intend to release a draft of Chapter 2 on November 23rd.

To complement the book, two R packages are in production. These focus on
   * all of the book's data and supplemental tools for students, and
   * functions and code for educators to modify and improve the book.

Six chapter layout:
   * Data exploration
   * Probability
   * Modeling data
   * Foundations for inference
   * Classical inference
   * Linear regression
These chapters will be released in PDF form before Summer 2010. Additional chapters will be added in the 2011 First Edition release.
